FAQS

There are three steps to clean and preserve your wooden cutting board: cleaning, sanitizing and sealing.  See how to care for your wooden cutting board, so it lasts for year.

Cleaning - Wipe your board with a dry paper towel to get the excess debris off.  Scrub it with a soapy sponge,  just plain, unscented dish soap. Make sure you scrub it good with the “scrubby” side of the sponge.  Rinse it with plain hot water making sure the soap is all rinsed off.  Then take a paper towel and thoroughly wipe it dry.

Sanitize - There are a couple ways to do this.
1. In a spray bottle, put 4 parts water and 1 part white distilled vinegar.  Spray it liberally all over the cutting board.  Soak it very thoroughly.  Make sure the board is completely covered.  Leave it for 5 minutes and then wipe dry.  Let air dry for 15 minutes before sealing it.
2. Sprinkle a layer of coarse salt the cutting board.  Then cut a lemon in half and squeeze one half of the lemon over the board.  Use a scrub brush and a little elbow grease to scour the board for a few minutes.  You could also use the lemon half to scrub the board, squeezing out the juice as you go.  The acid in the lemon juice will disinfect the board and the abrasive action of the salt will get rid of any tiny food remnants or stains that still cling to the board.  Thoroughly rinse the board with hot water.  Then take a towel and thoroughly dry the board.

Seal to preserve - Using mineral oil coat the board; 3-4 tablespoons should be plenty.  Let it set 15 minutes and then wipe off any excess oil.  Now your cutting board has been cared for properly.

We recommend doing this to your boards monthly.
